I have a RUT240 whose wifi strength is reduced from 100% (when next to it) to undetectable when it is moved 3m away. This is the second RUT240 of my collection that does this. Anyone have any ideas?
I have loaded both the legacy firmware as well as the newest firmware, both give the same result.
Thank you for reaching out and sharing the details about your issue.
Could you please check the following:
Transmit Power Settings:
Navigate to Network → Wireless → Radio Edit and ensure the Transmit Power is set to 100%.
Environmental Factors:
Is the device surrounded by many electronic devices or interference from other access points?
Are there any metal objects nearby that might be affecting signal propagation?
WiFi Antenna:
Have you tried using a different WiFi antenna?
Ensure the antenna is properly attached and positioned at a 90° angle.
Wireless Channel Congestion:
Navigate to Status → Wireless → Channel Analysis and scan for channel congestion, then select less crowded channel in Network → Wireless → Radio → 2.4 GHz radio settings.
Alternatively, you can use a WiFi analysis application to check how crowded your environment is.
Factory Reset:
Does the issue persist even after performing a factory reset on the device?
Hello,
The power is set to 100%
There are no other electronic devices.
I have tried other wifi antennae
I am based in a remote area, that is why there is no radio frequency congestion.
Factory reset makes no difference. I have tried all 3 firmwares on the site. Legacy, basic and latest firmware.
I have had to throw away a RUT240 once before, because it did the same.
Could you please clarify whether the device has already been sent for RMA or if you would like to send it now?
If you are considering sending it for RMA (and it has not been sent yet), we will need to reach out to you privately. For this, I have sent you a form to fill out – please use 11813 as the ticket ID. Once submitted, we will contact you privately with further details on the RMA process.
We have received your submitted form, but it appears that you did not specify your email address. As a result, we are unable to contact you privately regarding your request.
The form has been resent to your inbox—could you please complete it once again with the specified email address?
Good day
I have submitted the form and it only allows to submit if one has entered the email address.
Perhaps there is a problem with the form?
I have done so again. I have dropped off the unit at your distributor and given them the 11813 number. I assume they can have better luck in submitting the form? They are a distributor and not an end user like me. Maybe this RMA process works differently?
You should receive an email from us shortly. For the RMA process, please ensure that you have contacted your reseller first, as they are responsible for initiating the process by creating a ticket in HelpDesk.
