It is highly suggested for you to have a physical access with the device. One testing that you can do is to connect an end device with Ethernet port to RUT240. To check if packet drops are experienced because of the USB to Ethernet adapter. Secondly, make sure that the end device obtains an IP address automatically to avoid DHCP request flooding.
Have you upgraded the FW of RUT240 to 7.05.4?
