Hello,

with a RUT240 I have problems to do a firmware upgrade from remote.

The device had the version 7.05.4 installed. I tried to upgrade by WEB-UI to 7.6.13 “from server” and “file”. Both uploads were checked as OK. But after “proceed” the old version is still active.

Then I did a “file-Upload” of version 7.6.3 as a intermediate step. This was installed successfully.

But, again, I’m not able to upgrade to 7.6.13 “from server” or “file”, now from 7.6.3.

Here a output of `hexdump -C /dev/mtd1`

I have a troubleshooting-download available.

Any idea want is going on, and a hint to solve this from “remote”?

Thanks

Hello,

Some RUT240 and other EOL devices may encounter this issue. One known way to resolve it is to run the attached script below, either from the WebUI or CLI:

```auto
chmod +x wdt.sh && ./wdt.sh &
```

Thank you again…

A upgrade to 7.6.13 was now successfull.

The script showns these output:
{
“status”: “offline”,
“timeout”: 21,
“frequency”: 5,
“magicclose”: true
}
{
“status”: “offline”,
“timeout”: 21,
“frequency”: 5,
“magicclose”: true
}

and did what?
Do I have to be aware, that I need the script for that device in the future again?

Thanks and nice Weekend

Hello,

I’m glad the script worked! In the future, you can try upgrading without it. However, keep in mind that the RUT240 is an End-of-Life (EOL) device with limited memory, which can make firmware upgrades difficult. If you encounter problems with upgrading again, feel free to use the same script.

Best regards,
