RUT200 and RUT241 flash size

When I check the product datasheets of the two modells above there should be a flash size of 16MB …

… which should enough for install Python3 and run a script in init.d.

Based on that I bough this two modells but “surprise”, when I commissioning the two devices booth have only a flash size of 4MB?

I guess my supplier had maybe “old” generations of the two modells on stock or do I not really unterstand the 16MB flash in the datasheet?

If they are old generations, is there any way to find out what generation the lastest is, e.g. an serial or generation number when I buy again new ones from my supplier?

The flash size is 16MB, the firmware size is approximately 12MB, leaving around 4MB of free space. What’s wrong?

As I wrote above, there is no space to install any small python framework with approx. 4MB left.

As a not ICT-Specialist I take a datasheet and when I am reading 16MB flash, this is for me the storage I can use, especially if deive is comming with firmware installed. Also Web-Gui shows not 16MB flash, it shows only approx. 4MB what is the right way like it should also be in the datasheet.

At least it should be a hint in datasheet like:

“16MB flash SPI (Firmware not included, approx. 4MB for use!)”

Hello,

We apologize for any inconvenience caused. I’ve suggested to our documentation team that we include both the total memory and the memory available for user space in the datasheets for all devices. This will help prevent any future misunderstandings.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and feel free to reach out if you have any further concerns.

Best regards,
