Rut 955 internal Modem and Sim

Hi

I have a problem with a RUT 955, it works alomost as it should, my only problem is that the DATA connection in the internal modem to the sim card is disconnected.

I have tried to do all I know I have the newest firmware, tried to factory reset it, change sim ports.
It can register that there are a Sim in it and it works, I can even Ping the sim and router.
So I feel I am lost does anyone have some guidance?

Hello, are all mobile antennas attached? Because from provided screenshots I can see it only connects to 2G network.

If antennas attached, try setting custom APN (Network->Mobile->General page).

Also can go to Network->Mobile->Connection page and try to set network type to 4G only.

Good afternoon,

Please see if with an issue like yours, a modem upgrade would help.

Firstly try in the WEBUI, it is right next to the firmware upgrade in System->Maintenance.

If you are unable to, please update the modem manually. Instructions:

  1. Reach the device via SSH (this can be done through PuTTy or via the Terminal) - a quick reminder, the username used for SSH is root and not admin, the password is the same as the WebUI one.

    1. Note: Since you will most likely have to connect your internet source to the only port the device has, before connecting everything, log onto the WebUI of the device, head to System → Administration → Access Control and enable Remote access for the SSH & the HTTP:
  2. You can then reach the device via its public IP through both the SSH and the browser.

  3. Once you’re in the screen, enter these commands:

    1. opkg update
    2. opkg install sshfs
    3. opkg install modem_updater
    4. modem_updater -g
      1. You should be able to see a similar output to this:

RG501QEUAAR12A08M4G_04.200.04.200
RG501QEUAAR12A09M4G_04.200.04.200
RG501QEUAAR12A10M4G_04.200.04.200
Available versions (highest version number first):
Modem List: [0] Quectel RG501Q-EU Telia LT | USB_ID: 2-1 | Firmware: RG501QEUAAR12A10M4G_04.200.04.200 | builtin:true
Detected MODEM_N: 0
root@RUTX50:~# modem_updater -g

1. Simply copy the entire text of the very top version and write the command **modem_updater -v <paste the version here>** and press enter
1. The modem firmware should then update, all you will have to do is wait, after completing, the device should restart.
2. You can then go back to the WebUI and check if things start working or not.

Regards,
Arturas

Also, when you do the modem upgrade :

Please remember to use WAN, (ethernet cable) as internet source, not mobile.
