RUT 955 connects to weak network after rebooting

Hello,

We have several RUT955 routers installed in the field, where we recently updated the firmware from version 6.8 and below to version 7.6.13. These routers are equipped with SIM cards, which have also been switched. Previously, Vodafone M2M cards were used, but now we are using cards with the “eapn” APN, allowing the routers to access the German D1, D2, and D3 networks.

After a reboot, the router connects to the strongest network but often only operates on 2G (EDGE) or 2G (GSM), which is far too slow for our use case. If I configure the router to use 4G only, it fails to establish any connection.

For testing, I set up three routers side by side. One works fine, but the others fail to connect after rebooting.

Is there a setting or configuration change that could prevent this issue?
Before it worked for years! I use the same setup as before, only with updated firmware and sim cards.
The network coverage is great as I am in a big city.

Maybe someone already faced this problem

Hello,

I recommend upgrading your devices to the latest firmware version, 7.6.16. After completing the update, please check if the issue persists.

You can download the firmware image from this link: RUT955 Firmware Downloads.

Hello,

thank you for your reply.
I fixed the problem now. I Scan for all providers and pick the strongest one and set it under Network → Mobile → Network selection.
A software udate did not deliver the right solution.
