Router vs Gateway

Hi,

i would like to setup a Teltonika device for 4G/5G network connectivity in front of out firewall.
I would like to have the firewall receiving the IP address assigned by the network provider, so the device acting as a modem.
Could all devices be configured this way or is this specific to gateways?

Thanks and regards,
Thomas

Hi thomas2024,

Welcome to Teltonika Networks Community!

You’re right. Our gateways and routers can allow the device to assign its WAN IP to a LAN device. For 4G/5G specific device, you can go for TRB500 or RUTX50.

Let me know if this helps.

Hi @Janmiguel,

thanks for clarification.

What benefit would be there to choose a gateway like TRB550 over a router like RUTX50 if it could be configured in the same way?

Regards

Hi,

Basically, RUTX50 has more to offer than TRB500 like number of ports, Wi-Fi and GPS modules, and sim card slots. More information about its comparison HERE.

Hi,

are there any difference in 5G modem between the RUTC50 and TRB500? e.g. performance and sustainability
