Hy there.
I’m having trouble connecting my RUT140 to the RMS network. The router acts as a bridge between the company’s Wi-Fi network and a machine’s LAN. The RUT140’s network accesses the internet, and I can surf the web without any issues. However, when I connect to RMS, it gives me the error “Failed to resolve hostname.” I’ve attached images.
Could it be related to the firewall or network zone configuration?
This error can be seen in device’s WebUI, in RMS Connection state, likely due to incorrect DNS or Network configuration. To find the source of the issue try pinging the RMS server from the router’s CLI or diagnostics page: ping rms.teltonika-networks.com
If the ping fails to resolve the hostname, it confirms a DNS issue. In that case you can change DNS settings in the WAN interface:
Go to Network → Interfaces → WAN (edit whichever interface is your internet link)
Under Advanced settings for that interface, look for a field like Use custom DNS servers
Enter your DNS server IP(s) there (e.g. 8.8.8.8)
Save & apply
This ensures that even at the interface level, your DNS is forced instead of relying entirely on what the upstream gives you.
Keep in mind that there may be other underlying issues, so if my suggestions do not resolve the problem, please try the solutions outlined in this article:
