RMS Activation via Remote IP

Is it possible to activate RMS on a RUT241 remotely if I have the IP address 46.15.xx.xx from the eSIM provider (from ZeroTier)? I am not able log in via ZeroTier, but it shows it as active.

Greetings hhb,

Thank you for your question.

Yes, you can add the device to RMS remotely even without a public IP address. The device needs to be powered on, connected to the internet, and you must have available resources in RMS (credits or management packs). Please note that each new device comes with one free credit, which can be used to monitor the device through RMS.

For step-by-step instructions on adding a device to RMS, please refer to the following article:

If your device has a public IP address, you can also access it remotely. Make sure that the remote access option is enabled on the router. If you have access to the WebUI, you can check this by navigating to System → Administration → Access Control and confirming that HTTP and HTTPS access are enabled:

Regarding your question about ZeroTier VPN configuration, you can find a configuration example here:

Thank you for the detailed response. I will look through the guides carefully. The RUT241 show up in the dashboard, but the status light is grey (not green) and I will need to figure out what is missing. It is attempting to connect, but without success. I have Credit available.

Thanks

Hello,

Thank you for your swift response,

Devices with a gray “Not Activated” icon haven’t connected to RMS yet. Recently booted devices usually connect within minutes, but those inactive for a long time (in Standby mode) may take up to 6 hours to reconnect.

To force re-connection:

  • Local access: Log in to WebUI → Services → Cloud Solutions → RMS → click Connect.
  • Remote access: Send SMS: <device_password> rms_connect

For more information you can refer to this article:

Please let me know how it goes and if you need additional assistance, I will be more than happy to help!

Best regards,
V.

I got it to work now. Thanks for your help.
