Remote access to Huawei smartloggers is buggy

We are using Teltonika routers (RUT 955, 240, 241 etc.) to also remotely access other network devices, namely PV data loggers. This mostly works very well, but Huawei smartloggers are a bit of a problem.

Finding and connecting to these is easy in RMS, but once you have generated a link and opened it, several problems occur:

  • smartlogger interface does not load fully sometimes (content missing)
  • Connection is interrupted after approx 20-30 sec

We tried several browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Opera), also tried disabling browser addons like adblockers etc., unfortunately no change. We tried both the direct link to the device, as well as the direct connection inside a window within RMS. This happens to all Huawei smartloggers, this is not a problem of connection speed or unstable connection.

The smartloggers are accessed via port 443/HTTPS.

What could be the problem?

Hello,

If I understand correctly, you are connecting to Huawei Smartloggers via RMS using RMS Connect → Remote Access, right?

Have you tried clearing your browser cache or opening the link in an incognito/private window? What were the results?

Could you also please specify the duration you set when generating a new link?

Best regards,

Yes, RMS Connect > Remote Access is where we connect to the network devices.

I have tried clearing the cache and private windows, still the same effect. The duration is standard 30 min

Hello,

Could you please try setting the link duration to 1–2 hours and check if anything changes?

If there is no change, please create a VPN hub in RMS and add the Smartloggers there. Instructions for creating a VPN hub can be found here: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RMS_VPN_Hubs.
Could you confirm whether the same issue still occurs when using a remote connection via the VPN hub?

Let me know how it goes and if you need any assistance with setting up the VPN.

Hi
Nothing changes if I put the duration to 1-2 hours. However I have tried the VPN hub option and this works without any problems.

Hello,

Glad to hear everything is working with VPN Hubs!

Please let me know if you need any additional assistance.

Best regards,
