Precise time synchronization

Hi,
we are using a couple RUT906 to transmit sensor data from a remote installation.
As there are multiple modems in a single installation and we have sampling rates of >= 1kHz I need to synchronize the devices with better accuracy than NTP.
a) In the webinterface under /system/admin/datetime there is the “Operator station synchronization” option, but as this uses NTP I don’t think this will be accurate enough.
b) If we would add a GPS antenna we could potentially get very precise, but I am not sure how it is implemented under the hood. What precision can we expect with that synchronization option?
c) Are there any other options available on the RUT906 or similar Teltonika routers to more precisely synchronize to the mobile network?

Don’t have RUT906 but for units with GPS the GPS Time synchronization can be typically turned on under the System.Administration.Date & Time General tab. NTP tab is also typically under the Date & Time page.

But since you are sampling around 1kHz then one would have thought standard NTP would be sufficient which normally can achieve at least millisecond accuracy or better?

Hello,

The best we can do for our device with GPS, is 1Hz.
From what it seems like you need something along the lines of PTP v2, which we don’t have on our devices.
