OTD500 as primary WAN for UDM Pro

Mobile broadband is used as primary WAN connection for a Unifi Dream Machine Pro. A Huawei H155-383 in bridge mode delivers a stable WAN connection.

An OTD500 was bought to allow for outdoor installation. However I have not been able to setup the OTD500 to deliver WAN to the UDM Pro.

The OTD was setup in bridge mode,

the UDM Pro’s MAC address was added in “General settings”

Delegate IPv6 prefixes is turned “on”

The firewall settings are “unspecified”

As stated above - the Huawei router works reliably in bridge mode. Is it possible to replace the Huawei router with the OTD500, or have I bought the wrong product?

Hello,

May I ask whether the correct APN and PDP type are selected on the OTD500? For testing purposes, please try the following:

  • Set the PDP type to only IPv4 or only IPv6 (instead of dual-stack) and observe if that helps.
  • Leave the MAC address field empty in bridge mode.
  • Ensure the OTD500 firmware is updated to the latest version.

Also, just to confirm, I assume this issue does not occur when running the OTD500 in NAT mode?

thanks for your quick reply.

  • The APN is assigned automatically and is correct.
  • The latest stable version of OTD500 firmware is installed
  • The issue even occurs in NAT mode
  • The issue occurred with empty MAC address in bridge mode

The „stupid“ Huawei Modem just works if put in bridge mode…

I completed the form, sent you the troubleshoot file and explained the intended setup and its’ goal on August 28th.

Please let me know if the OTD500 can substitute the Huawei router in Bridge mode.
