OpenSSL update, connection loss, RutOS 7.24

Hi folks,

I will be running into big problems with my Teltonika devices, because a VPN-Server I have to use is going to require OpenSSL Version 3.1.1 or newer in a few weeks. Since RutOS 7.22 and 7.24 only use OpenSSL 3.0.19, I need to update SSL on the devices by myself. How can I do this, when I only have a openVPN connection? Use of Teltonika-RMS is prohibited/blocked, the devices are around the globe…

When will OpenSSL 3.1.1 or newer be implemented in RutOS?

Any help is highly appriciated  !

Best regards,

Axel

Hello once more, @axel!

Thank you for your patience.

We’ve received a response from our team.

It appears that the OpenSSL version 3.1 you are referring to is EOL since March 2025. You can find the article speaking about it here: HeroDevs Blog | OpenSSL 3.1 End-of-Life on March 14, 2025: What It Means for Your Business

We currently support the latest available version, which is 3.0.21.

You can find the list of versions and their patch notes here: OpenSSL 3.0 Series Release Notes | OpenSSL Library

Using an EOL version of this software may cause security issues; therefore, we will not be switching to it.

Let us know if you have any more questions.

Kind regards,
Laura.
