I just purchased this unit to provide NTP to a clients airgapped CCTV network and prior to taking it to site tried to configure it - I’ve connected power to it, it powers on but I can’t get an IP address from it - I haven’t tried the full reset yet. Also the documentation shows connecting an antenna but none is provided so I’ve just connected an IoT 4G antenna.
Hello Trevor,
You will need to use a GNSS (GPS) antenna to receive a GPS signal on the NTP001, as a 4G antenna will not work in this case.
Regarding the antenna, there is non included in ordering package, but you can order additional antennas on resellers with the order code:PR1KSG30
I would also like to confirm whether you followed the correct steps when accessing the device. You can find detailed instructions on our wiki page.
By default, DHCP is enabled on the device, so your computer should automatically obtain an IP address from the NTP001.
Regardless of the antenna being used or whether GNSS is functioning, the device should still be accessible.
If you are unable to access it, please try restoring the device to its default settings. If the issue persists, we recommend contacting your supplier, as the unit may be faulty. As a final step, you could also attempt a bootloader reset.
If you need any further assistance, feel free to reach out.
Best regards,
Žilvinas.
Hi Zilvinas
Yeah I followed the wiki - there’s not much to follow really - connect power, connect PC, make sure PC networking is in auto dhcp - it should get address - all I’m getting is a 169 linklocal address. I’ve double checked the laptop by disconnecting the patch lead from the NTP001 and connecting that to local network - the laptop obtains a DHCP address - so that rules out the laptop and cable. I’ve swapped the power supply the first one I grabbed was only 12V .33A and replaced it with 12V 1.5A that didn’t make any difference. When the NTP001 first powers on the power led lights and then the 3 GPS leds flash a number of times during this time the network icon in the windows taskbar flashes as though its trying to establish a connection after a while the 3 GPS leds stop flashing and I’m still left with only a linklocal address. Holding the reset to default starts with GNSS lighting up then Fix lights up then Sync lights up they all stay illuminated until I release the reset button, the device then goes through the previously described startup process. The orange led on the devices ethernet port stays steady (it flashes sometimes briefly during the startup process while the 3 gps leds flash) the other led never lights up.
I’ll contact my supplier.
It may be necessary to contact the supplier, but I’d just like to clarify one point first. The NTP001 has a bootloader recovery option, which requires setting your laptop to a static IP configuration during the process.
From your previous message, it’s not entirely clear whether you’ve already tried this recovery procedure. If you have, then I agree that contacting the supplier would be the right next step, as this could indicate a hardware issue.
If you haven’t had a chance to go through the full bootloader recovery yet, I’d recommend giving it a try before reaching out to the supplier, just to rule out any potential software-related causes.
Kind regards,
Žilvinas.
Hi Zilvinas
I’ve gone through the bootloader process, setting my laptop address to 192.168.1.3 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and DNS 8.8.8.8 (the minimum on Win 11 to manually set your IP) I’ve even tried setting the gateway to 192.168.1.1 - I hold the reset button and while holding the reset button power the NTP on, all the LEDs flash at normal speed, I continue holding the reset button for 5 seconds and then release it, all the LEDs begin flashing quickly. At no point after this do they become solid or “light up” as indicated by the FAQ and I cannot reach or ping 192.168.1.1
I’ve tried the process multiple times.
