My RUT 950 is installed in An aluminium sailboat. On the roof of the deckhouse I have installed a Teltonika Combi antenna (LTE/GPS/Glasnoss/Wifi) that is connected hard wired (LTE) to the modem. The LTE connectivity is ok.
The Wifi connectivity however is very unstable ( both when hard wires from antenna are connected or when the pole antenna’s are connected to the modem)..
A search for a Wifi client do provides a list of available clients with signal strength. When selecting a station I Can See under “Network/wireless” that the client becomes active (“on”) but the signal strength indicator gives mainly a zero value but only for short intervals I do see values of say 60% (for e.g. 20 seconds and than it turns back to zero.
The strange thing is that if I do select same wifi client directly on my i-phone i.s.t. of through the router (the wifi antenna in the habor is close to my dock) I do get a better /more stable performance).
How can I improve wifi connectivity performance inside my aluminium cabin?
A colleague of the First Line Support suggested to have the wifi wires of the antenna disconnected from the router and to install the antenna poles instead. This did not provide any improvement.
Looking forward to any advise on the correct wifi (hardware-software) settings.
When using LTE, does the connection work properly if you connect to the router’s Wi-Fi?
Could you also confirm the current firmware version on the RUT950? (You can find this under Status → System.)
Additionally, could you describe the Wi-Fi instability in more detail? For example, does the connection work for a while and then disconnect completely, or is it consistently slow? What exactly happens?
Does the harbor Wi-Fi require authentication through a landing page when connecting?
The main issue is that the aluminum cabin is blocking wireless signals:
If the Wi-Fi antenna is outside, the router should be able to detect and connect to the harbor Wi-Fi without issues. However, the signal it broadcasts may not effectively penetrate the roof to reach devices inside the cabin.
If the Wi-Fi antennas are inside, the router should provide a strong signal to devices within the cabin, but it may struggle to detect or connect to the harbor Wi-Fi through the aluminum structure.
For the most reliable setup, it’s best to separate Wi-Fi WAN (receiving the harbor connection) and Wi-Fi LAN (serving the cabin) using different devices. Connecting a basic Wi-Fi access point to the LAN port of the RUT950 should provide a stable wireless network inside the cabin.

I Will give it a try with a separate wifi access point.
But can you please explain why the Teltonika Combi antenna I have installed does not provide this functionallity. It does include wifi antenna and this antenna is hard wired to the router
Thanks for reaching out. The problem still remains and I do need your help.The modem does scan available wifi stations but if I select one (with correct password) the SSID STATUS remains “down” (signal 0%).
From the antenna (for type see earlier communication) the LTE Main and AUX are connected to modem. On the wifi Ports I have inserted the pole sticks.
Please, please please advise what to do to have the modem remain connected to selected wifi client
