We are planning to use the RUT241 to connect a larger number of energy sensors. The data will be transmitted via Modbus TCP and converted to MQTT using the gateway function of the RUT241. The energy values are sent every 5 minutes. In this context, we would like to know: What is the maximum number of sensors that can be handled through this setup?

If you’re referring to the maximum number of Modbus TCP clients, then theoretically the RUT241 should support <50 TCP connections under normal operating conditions. However, there’s a slight chance there might be a limit from the hardware side. Could you let me know how many Modbus TCP servers/sensors you are planning to connect in your setup?
