Issues with VPN creation?

Hi, as Teltonika support is quite slow, let me try my luck here. :crossed_fingers:

How to connect from a remote location via VPN to a Teltonika RUT951 Network that uses a SIM card to connect to the Internet?

A few screenshots are attached. If you can help me

, what is wrong with the settings so the connection is not established?

Thank you for any help, thank you! :folded_hands:

Greetings,

Here are ranges of NAT/CG-NAT IP addresses that are classified as private and cannot be utilized for remote device access via their public IP:

Private IP addresses:

  • 10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255 (Total Addresses: 16,777,216)
  • 172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255 (Total Addresses: 1,048,576)
  • 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 (Total Addresses: 65,536)

CG-NAT IP addresses:

  • 100.64.0.0 - 100.127.255.255 (Total Addresses: 4,194,305)

Since your IP address falls within the CG-NAT IP range, you can’t use the router as an IPsec server.

You can find more information about IP addresses here: Private and Public IP Addresses - Teltonika Networks Wiki

As an alternative, you can use solutions such as ZeroTier or our RMS VPN Hub, which do not require a public IP address.

Hi Justinas, and many thanks! So, basically, it means I have no public address provided by the ISP, right? What I see in the address in “Connection” block is 100.70.26.251…

If so, how come I have two addresses - to explain - when I connect with i.e. my phone to that wifi created from SIM in teltonika RUT951, I got another IP found by “what is my IP” websites…

This tells us that its a CGNAT’ed IP address, you’d have to ask your operator for a public IP, or opt for a VPN that doesn’t require you to have a Public Ip address (ZeroTier, RMS VPN, Tailscale (may not be supported on your device as its CPU/Memory heavy)
