Currently, no specific tests have been conducted to determine the maximum number of IPsec tunnel connections on the RUT956. While there is no tunnel limit imposed by the firmware, performance quality can vary significantly depending on several factors, including the specific IPsec settings in use, traffic load and the number of tunnels active simultaneously, uplink bandwidth limitations, your performance expectations, and thresholds for what constitutes an acceptable connection.

As a general reference, having 10 simultaneous tunnels with each utilizing approximately 80 Mbps of bandwidth can consume around 90% of the CPU resources on the device. This high resource utilization may impact the performance of other processes running on the router.
