High capacity fiber connection on Teltonika routers

I’m curious about Teltonika routers connected to a 1gbit Fiber connection.

Has anyone done a speed test with the RUTX50 or other Teltonika routers?

The processors seem very small to cope with a high capacity connection if i compare with other brands.

I need to evaluate if i am to use Teltonika for some of my clients.

I was thinking either the RUTX50 or the RUTM08 for instance.

Hi, @Snarnet

Welcome to community.

Have you look at the datasheet?

RUTM08

CPU MediaTek, Dual-Core, 880 MHz, MIPS1004Kc RAM 256MB, DDR3 FLASH storage 16 MB serial NOR flash, 256 MB serial NAND flash

RUTX50

CPU Quad-core ARM Cortex A7, 717 MHz RAM 256 MB FLASH storage 256 MB

and… looking for a better cpu?

Try RUTC50

CPU Mediatek, Dual-core, 1.3 GHz, ARM Cortex A53 RAM* 512MB DDR3 RAM** 1GB, DDR4 FLASH storage* 16MB serial NOR flash, 512MB serial NAND flash FLASH storage** 16MB serial NOR flash, 8GB eMMC *Feature availability varies by order code (RUTC50 *0****) **Feature availability varies by order code (RUTC50 *1****)

Hi Marcelo, and thank you.

Yes i have looked at the specs.

The RUTC50 is better, however costs alot more. I was aiming for a cheaper router.

So my question still is - can rutm08 or rutx50 manage/saturate a 1gbit line with the slower processors.

Greetings,

Both the RUTX50 and RUTM08 are well-suited for 1 Gbit connections and are designed to deliver high throughput. However, performance can vary depending on your specific use case, especially if you plan to implement resource intensive features such as extensive VPN configurations or complex firewall rules.

I have contacted our RnD team regarding specific test cases. Once I get an answer from them, I will get back to you.

Best Regards,
Justinas

Hi Justinas

Thanks for the fast reply.

I was thinking of normal every day use. Maybe downloading and uploading from servers/websites without VPN as it can be power hungry. Maybe up to 20 clients on the network type of scenario.

It would be quite good to achieve high download/upload speeds as the rutm08 is the cheaper option if i compare to a fritzbox for instance. The fritzbox would have wifi, but that is another discussion. A tap200 could be placed closeby.

There is a difference in specs, one has two cores vs 4 cores(rutm08 & rutx50). Also different clock speeds, however very low clock speeds compared to other product brands.

Which one would perform better for download/upload , 2 or 4 core processor?
