We have SIM failover on our FMC650 devices.
Sim 1 = Truphone simcard (sold to us by Teltonika)
Sim 2 = other provider.
Sim 1 is suspended. But the failover is not working.
We get cellular position for Sim 2, but gprs is not failing over to Sim 2.
What is the goal of a failover even this is not working on a suspended Sim card?
I guess on suspended, the sim 1 is still data connecting, but the suspension is blocking any traffic, or at least the gprs connection is still working.
Upon activating the suspended SIM 1, it connects immediately again.
Thank you for the feedback. I understand the issue: even though the Truphone SIM (SIM 1) is suspended, the FMC650 stays connected to it without failing over to SIM 2.
Why this is happening: The FMC650 treats SIM 1 as the highest priority. When a SIM is suspended at the portal level, the modem can often still “register” on the cellular network. Because the device sees a valid network signal, it assumes SIM 1 is healthy and does not trigger the switch to SIM 2, even though data traffic is being blocked.
To resolve this and ensure the failover works as expected, please try the following:
Option 1: Complete SIM Deactivation Instead of just suspending the data, try to Deactivate the SIM entirely in the Truphone portal if possible. This forces the SIM to lose its network registration. Once done, send a cpureset command to the device. Without a network handshake on SIM 1, the FMC650 will immediately fail over to SIM 2.
Option 2: Operator Code Configuration Ensure that you have correctly configured the Home and Roaming operator codes in the device settings. If SIM 1 is on a network not listed in your “Allowed” operators, the device can be programmed to switch to SIM 2 automatically.
If these steps do not resolve the behavior, I recommend opening a technical support ticket. This will allow us to review your specific configuration files and troubleshooting logs to provide a more tailored solution.
