I have two trackers a FMC003 and FMB003. one is installed in a vw virtus and one is installed in the new kia seltos 2026. i am using codec json as the data protocol. for vw virtus the tracker is able to read oem total mileage, fuel level reading and other obd parameters but for the kia seltos it is not able to. how do i fix this issue. shall i try these in other cars as well?
vin detection and engine rpm etc is being read correctly for both. kindly help
For the KIA Seltos ICE vehicle, the supported vehicle range starts from 2019 with no defined end date. However, there is still a possibility that we may not be able to retrieve the required data from the vehicle.
First, could you please check from FOTA whether the FOTA file transfer is completed successfully, as shown in the example below?
If the FOTA file transfer is successful and you are still not receiving any vehicle data, I suggest using the latest firmware version available from the link shared below.
Once the firmware is updated, you can use the MANUAL VIN option. This can be configured either through the configuration file update or by sending the following SMS command:
setparam 40005:1;40003:TELTV010686000000;
After that, send the following SMS command:
oemreset
Then, please check by starting the engine ON and check whether the vehicle data is being received.
If you still do not receive any data after following the above steps, the vehicle may not be supported yet. In that case, we will need to perform an RE (Reverse Engineering) on the vehicle.
For this, you can connect with us through the Helpdesk or contact your Teltonika sales representative for further assistance.
This sounds more like a vehicle/ECU compatibility issue than a problem with the FMC003 itself, especially since VIN and RPM are being read correctly on both vehicles.
I’d definitely test the FMC003 on another compatible vehicle first. If the same OBD parameters work there, the Kia is likely not exposing the mileage/fuel data through the same OBD PIDs or may use manufacturer-specific parameters. I’d also check the FMC003 firmware and Teltonika OBD parameter compatibility list for the specific Kia model/year. The JSON codec only affects how the data is formatted; it won’t make an unsupported ECU parameter sports games available.
