Hi everyone,
I am using an FMC880 on a vehicle where I don’t have access to CAN bus or a physical Ignition (ACC) wire. I must rely on the accelerometer for Ignition detection.
Accurate engine hours are very important for my application. It is critical that Ignition is detected as “TRUE” whenever the engine is running, even when the vehicle is stationary (idling).
My issue: Currently, if the vehicle is moved manually or shaken while the engine is off, Ignition sets to “TRUE”. However, I am concerned that if I increase the filtering too much, I will lose the ability to track engine time while stationary.
My questions:
-
Is there a way to configure the accelerometer to specifically detect engine idle vibrations rather than general vehicle displacement?
-
What are the recommended “Threshold” and “Duration” settings to isolate an engine’s vibration signature while ignoring manual handling of the vehicle?
-
Does the 04.00.14 firmware offer improved processing to distinguish between “engine vibration” and “translation movement”?
Thanks in advance for your help!
