We need to connect our RUTX11 to satellite internet. We also use the RUTX11 as a file server via it’s USB port.
From my laptop I connect to RUTX11 via SSID 5G. Once connected I can browse files on the USB. If the RUTX11 is within cellular range I have internet.
Beyond cellular range we use satellite. The satellite modem is also a WIFI router, but it does not have a usb port to support a file share.
In RUTX11 Network>Wireless>SSIDs I click Scan 5GHz and it finds the SSID Satellite.
I removed the SIM from RUTX so it does not try to connect to cellular.
I have two problems. Firstly on my Windows machine I see a single WiFi network Satellite, so it appears I am connecting directly to the Satellite router.
Secondly if I connect my laptop to WiFi network 5G, I can see the file share but now I do not have internet access.
How do I configure RUTX to allow me to connect to the file share and also use the Satellite internet connection.
By default, when the RUTX11 connected successfully on a WiFi AP (e.g. your satellite modem), regardless if you are connected via LAN port of WiFi too, you should have a internet connectivity too.
My guess is that either the RUTX11 is not authenticated in the satellite modem WiFi AP or there might be a conflict with the IP address.
Can you send a screenshot of your configs, LAN IP of the RUTX11, and the WAN IP once it is connected to the satellite WiFi AP. - Network → WAN.
Thank you for your response michaelis. The RUTX authenticates connecting to the satellite modem without error.
This site returned an error uploading the screenshots you asked for. The LAN IP of the router is 192.168.1.1/24. The WAN IP of wifi1, the only WAN interface enabled is 192.168.1.34/24
THE IP for the management interface of the satellite router is 192.168.100.1
I’m on Windows 11 connected to the RUTX via wifi. The network icon at the bottom of the screen shows internet access, but I am unable to reach any websites.
When I remove the SSID for the satellite modem/router from the RUTX, I can connect to the internet.
