Bat120 preinstalled in sealed boxes

Hello.

We build and send to our customers sealed boxes that contain RUT241, the equipment that requires internet, power adapter, etc. all inside.

We dont want the customer to ever open the box.

And we are looking into the Bat120, if we turn it on before sealing the box (antennas for RUT241 is obviously external) and shipping it to customer, might take a week or two before they plug in the 230V cable.

Will the Bat120 shut down when battery reaches a treshold and just recharge itself and start working normally once power is restored?

We consider the Bat120 mainly so the RUT241 have power long enough to get out a message to our system that main power has been disconnected.

Anything above 5 minutes of backup is considered a win in this case.

Greetings,

Apologies for the delayed response and thank you for contacting us!

To answer your question - yes, this setup will work for your sealed-box scenario.

If the BAT120 is left switched ON, it will power the RUT241 until the battery drains completely, then safely shut down. When the customer connects the BAT120 to power 1-2 weeks later, the BAT120 will automatically power up the RUT241 and recharge its own battery.

Regarding your backup needs, you will easily exceed the 5-minute requirement. A fully charged BAT120 can power a typical router for 2.5 to 15 hours depending on the load. When main power drops, the BAT120 immediately signals the RUT241 and the router sends an SMS or Email notification in under 10 seconds.

You can configure this power-loss notification via the Event Juggler in the RUT241 WebUI. Here is the step-by-step guide:
