Any limitation of how many VPN Hub can be created?

Hello Everyone,

does anyone know about a limitation of how many VPN Hub can be created?

We would like to manage remote devices connected to RUT200’s on site via the VPN Hub feature. We have many sites (currently 20 and it will be growing) and we don’t want to the RUT200’s on different sites share common VPN Hub.

Thank you for your answer in advance!

Hello,

Could you please elaborate on the type of VPN that interests you?

OpenVPN can have many clients, but only one OpenVPN Server can be configured.

When it comes to IPSec for example, there is no specific limit to the number of IPSec instances
.
When it comes to managing several VPN connections, hardware may be a barrier. Processing and encrypting/decrypting the traffic requires the CPU and memory of the device, which might use up system resources.

Hello Caner,

here is a schematic overview of an e.g network topology.

Here we have 3 different project (Project A, B, C) with a total of 6 site. Each site has a Teltonika RUT200 with RMS enabled.

The individual Projects have their own RMS VPN Hub, where Site’s devided into different subnets (where it is applicable) and connected via the RMS VPN hub. (LAN to LAN communication inside the projects not important, and not configured.)

Currently we have 2 configured RMS VPN Hub at our Teltonika RMS account. (…HUB-2 and …OPERATION-HUB, please see picture down below.) So my question here is lets say, our company will have 100 different project, each will require to have its own VPN Hub. Is there any limitation on how many RMS VPN Hub can be created?

Best regards,
Peter

Hello,

While technically having more that one RMS VPN Hub client instance on the device is possible, adding more than one will cause routing issues as all those instances will route 192.168.255.0 network via hub. Thus, there will be a route conflict.
