Hello,
I am using several Teltonika routers, mostly RUTX12 and RUTX50. I wanted to find a way to block ads and unwanted websites, AdGuard Home seems to be perfect for what I need. However after installing AGH the device can’t reach RMS, even with all of the filters disabled and RMS address added to whitelist (Failure: Can’t resolve hostname). The RMS site can be accessed using any device connected to the network, but the router itself don’t seem to be able to reach it.
Have anyone faced the same issue or have been able to use AGH successfully?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out.
Here are a few steps that might be helpful:
- Whitelist RMS IP Addresses: Make sure to add all the RMS management IP addresses to your whitelist as outlined in this article: RMS IP Addresses and Ports.
- DNS Configuration Conflicts: The issue might be related to a conflict between the router’s internal DNS and AGH DNS. Try the following:
- In the router’s WebUI, navigate to Network → DNS and add the AGH DNS server there.
- In AdGuard Home, go to DNS Settings and ensure that you have an upstream DNS server specified to resolve public domains (e.g., Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1).
If adding the AGH DNS server to the router’s DNS servers list doesn’t resolve the issue, try configuring the router’s DNS settings to use an external DNS like Google DNS (8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1).
I hope this helps! If you need further assistance, feel free to reach out.
Best regards,
Hello,
Thanks for your answer. I excluded all of RMS IP addresses from being blocked by AGH, set routers DNS server to AGH, set AGH DNS server to Cloudflare and Google, tried using Google and Cloudflare for the router itself. Unfortunately none of these worked.
RMS isn’t technically being blocked by AGH as it doesn’t show in any of the logs and turning AGH off doesn’t help as well.
I used this install guide - AGH Manual Install Guide, maybe it can help identifying a mistake that I’m making.
Thanks in advance.
