I’m having an issue with my 4G connection on a router. Occasionally, the connection drops completely and does not restore, even after rebooting the router. However, I’ve recently discovered that removing the SIM card, waiting for the router to detect its missing, and then reinserting it restores the connection.
When the SIM card is reinserted, the modem reinitializes the connection process. This action forces the modem to re-detect the SIM card and re-register with the network.
Instead of re-inserting the SIM card, you can try restarting the mobile connection via the router’s WebUI (Status → Network → Restart connection).
2.1. For a more optimal solution, configure the Auto Reboot function to restart the mobile connection or reboot the modem automatically when this issue occurs.
Here’s how you can set it up:
Go to System → Maintenance → Auto Reboot.
Configure the feature to monitor connectivity (e.g., using a ping to a reliable host like 8.8.8.8).
Set it to Restart the mobile connection or Reboot the router if connectivity is lost.
